Our current trend among education graduates shows that most students who leave education colleges choose to do other things apart from teaching. This may be informed by many factors among them being the remuneration of teachers. We are also convinced that the enemy has a hand in it to draw teachers away from one of the noblest vocations of all time.
Many years of engagement with High School students in this country have taught us that vibrant Christian Unions are not nurtured by visiting preachers but by resident Shepherds. Committed Christian Union Patrons play such a huge role in the growth of the Christian students in their schools. Convinced of this, Timazi has another expression of ministry directed to the teachers. Most of the teachers who are committed today to the church in their schools got the conviction to do that while at the University.
We are therefore mobilizing these students as we disciple them to be established disciples of our Lord Jesus Christ as well train them to disciple students when they get to schools. We meet these students weekly for two hours and it has been exciting to see God work in their hearts concerning this issue. We are currently at Kenya Science Campus of UON and praying to get entry into Kikuyu Campus. This has been going on for the last two years.
We are glad to have one of the discipleship classes going out for teaching practice not only as teachers but also very fired up to put in practice what they have been learning in class i.e. making disciples.
This is also a busy term for us as we have many engagements with school; these would include Sunday services, Leaders Training Day and weekend challenges.
